With its secluded beach and on-site service, Villa Glaros is a very private base to explore the olive groves, coves and harbour towns of the Greek island of Paxos.

Villa Glaros provides personal service to ensure you’re settled immediately on arrival. Remove any guesswork from your stay so you can immediately live life like a local on this “secret” Ionian island.

Panoramic views

The Villa

The villa’s seven bedrooms, abundant light and extensive outdoor spaces make it perfect for small groups and families.

The architect has taken a modernist approach to Villa Glaros. The home’s cream walls and sandstone masonry play with the concept of the Greek villa, tweaking it imaginatively. The post-modern art throughout the property spurs moments of mindfulness.

The downstairs terrace and pool offer the room to socialize. Entertain at the BBQ, with outdoor seating for 12+. For those keen for a break, the upper terrace, study or hammock hideaway allow for seclusion. There are a dozen outdoor spaces dotted around the home for privacy or entertaining.

Day and night, the view out over the Ionian Sea gives you a sense both of space, and place. Sailboats dot the blue waters, while the green hills of the Greek mainland rest off in the distance.

The grounds cover 10,000 square metres, thick with pine groves. A private pathway leads past The Treehouse to a sheltered cove that’s great for swimming and stocked for watersports.

The floodlit tennis court and full gym, with fixed and free weights, offer plenty of opportunity for exercise during your stay.

The Experience

On-site services include a resident chef and a concierge, a couple who remain at the property for the duration of your stay.

The chef will cater to your needs ahead of your stay, preparing for your dietary specifications with local ingredients if desired.

The concierge can arrange dining reservations, excursions and tickets so you can quickly make the most of your time on Paxos.

The villa’s speedboat and skipper are for the exclusive use of guests. They stand ready to whisk you to the beautiful beaches around the island, or the next-door islet of Antipaxos.

Property Features

Villa Glaros sits on more than 10,000 square metres of Greek hillside, overlooking a rocky bay. When approached from the sea, the home resembles a lighthouse in a forest, its floor-to-ceiling windows allowing an uninterrupted view along the coast. The cream colour is a warm tone that picks up the cliffs below, standing out from the thick green of the cypress groves and olive trees that populate the property.

The very modern home nevertheless nods to the island’s traditional stonework with its masonry. The texture of the rocky island of Paxos is picked up in the stone exterior walls. The same slabs that line the smoothly cobbled driveway form the trim of the quays of the three small ports on the island. The home is intuitively designed. The on-site concierge-and-chef team are on hand to resolve any issues that may arise, although they will have prepared the home to your specifications before you arrive.

The layout of Villa Glaros encourages outdoor use. Many of the rooms open onto the upper and lower terraces, the pool deck, the top-floor outdoor dining space, or the kitchen-side downstairs BBQ area. For active use, the home has a full flood-lit tennis court and a gym with free weights, rowing machine and treadmill. The infinity pool is up to 1.6m deep, with a shallow end of 1m and an area of 0.3m for kids or wading.

The property spills down the hill, a wide flight of stone steps leading to a secluded beach. That is stocked with the full complement of watersports equipment, to kayak, paddleboard, snorkel or swim. The villa’s speedboat and skipper are also at your command. The gated property is a secluded and secure base from which to explore the island. Paxos has its hidden pleasures, but you will find everything you need for a happy holiday in this welcoming home.

Exteriors

Paxos averages eight or more hours of sunshine every day from April through the end of October, and double that in mid-summer. The sea breeze provides relief from any mid-day heat.

In other words, it’s time to spend outside. Villa Glaros opens its doors to shady spots and  sheltered dining alcoves. Or make the most of your days in the rays out on the upper and lower decks.

Interiors

The interiors pay tribute to light and space, bringing the Greek summer into the home. Floor-to-ceiling windows offers breathtaking views over the Ionian Sea. The central living space includes an open-ceiling lofted lounge, a sleek double-sink kitchen with breakfast island, and a full dining room that opens onto a terrace.

The fittings and fixtures are modern but comfortable, with natural materials used throughout. Abstract art pieces throughout the property match the modernism that defines the residence.

Our Layout

Let’s Explore Paxos.

Greek legend has it that the sea god, Poseidon, formed Paxos by striking Corfu to the north with his trident. He carved off a secret island paradise where he could hide away with his lover, the sea nymph Amphitrite.

Paxos, just 10 km long and 4 km wide, retains its charm as a rural olive-growing island with three main harbour towns. It’s the smallest of the main Ionian islands, with a population of just 2,300. Without its own airport, and served by ferry from Corfu or the mainland, it attracts far fewer visitors than Greece’s “holiday” destinations.
